NORMS AND FAMILY

Types of norms:

 

SOCIAL NORMS: Are norms accepted by the majority of a certain society.  understanding and predicting what people will do.

They contribute to our clothing choices, how we speak, our music preferences, and our beliefs about certain things. They can also affect our attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors related to violence.

 

 

LEGAL NORMS: Are norms based on laws. They are not optional. Legal norms regulate society.  You can get in trouble by the police or anyone part of that department.  

Legal relations within the governing jurisdiction at a given point in time.

 

 

RELIGIOUS NORMS: They are the norms we know that they come from an external source. An example can be the 10 commandments. They are the moral principles that guide religions and that set the standard for what is and isn't acceptable behavior

 

“Norms provide order in society. Human beings need norms to guide and direct their behavior, to provide order and predictability in social relationships and to make sense of and understanding of each other's actions. These are some of the reasons why most people, most of the time, conform to social norms.”

 

 

The accepted behavior that an individual is expected to conform to in a particular group, community, or culture. These norms are often a useful purpose and create the making of correct behaviors. You can say that social norms allow you to expect the events that will occur in a particular place.

 

Family:

 

They are the people we are related by blood, or it can be by a legal relationship.

 

THEIR ETHICAL FUNCTION:

Provides recommendation(advices)

Respectful treatment

Loving relationship

Discipline

Open communication

Leading by the example 

 

Family usually teach us that, there are some special cases where you don´t have the trust to be opened to your family.  Family usually gives us an example of how should we live.
